Philosophy & History

Since 1954, St. Paul’s School has been committed to providing a strong foundation for our children in a caring and loving environment of Christian faith. The school is an extension of the educational ministry of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, which has a long history of providing quality experiences for young children.

In 1986, St. Paul’s School was one of the first schools in the country to pursue accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). St. Paul’s continues to hold NAEYC accreditation, which confirms that programs are safe and well prepared; using effective teaching approaches that enhance each child’s learning and development in the context of curriculum goals. Each teacher pairing prepares their classroom with developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum, ensuring the 5 domains of child development are met: physical development, cognitive development, social and emotional development, and linguistic development. As a reputable indicator of quality, NAEYC Accreditation correlates with children’s greater readiness and success in school and beyond; increased educational attainment rates; and overall healthier lifestyles. St. Paul’s School has prospered and expanded while maintaining its accreditation for almost 40 years. St. Paul’s School continues its strong commitment toward children by building strong connections with them, and allowing them to learn about the world around them through play experiences.
